Spartans Ground the Eagles in Four

TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 8 University of Tampa Spartans defeats the Embry-Riddle Eagles in four sets by scores of 25-13, 25-21, 20-25 and 25-18. Now 9-0 in the SSC, the Spartans remain the only team undefeated in conference competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sorrel Houghton had an outstanding performance, earning 14 kills on 35 total attempts with only four errors. The Osteen, Florida native had a kill percentage of .286, and also recorded one dig and one block for the Spartans. Following her efforts, Katie McKiel had 11 kills on 37 total attempts and recorded nine digs. Melissa Elias also played a key role in Tampa's victory. The sophomore was just one kill shy from earning her second triple-double of the season, ending the night with nine kills, 14 assists and 12 digs. Junior Sammy Mueller was the only Spartan to earn a double-double on the night. She ended set four with 34 assists and 16 digs. Nicole Dominguez suited up as the team's libero ending the night with a team-high of 19 digs. 

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Sorrel Houghton led the Spartans in kills with 14 total.

• Sammy Mueller earned a double-double with 34 assists and 16 digs.  

• Sophomore, Melissa Elias completed the match with nine kills, 14 assists, and 12 digs.  

• Nicole Dominguez had a team-high of 19 digs.

The Spartans lead the all-time series over the Eagles 9-0.
