#9 Tampa Defeats PBA

West Palm Beach, Fla. – The No. 9 ranked University of Tampa Spartans volleyball team recorded their eighth sweep of the season as they defeated the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic.

 HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Set: The first set was a back-and-forth battle between Palm Beach and Tampa as both teams exchanged the lead early on. Katie McKiel led the Spartans' offensive with a number of kills, as the Spartans were able to secure the first set by a score of 25-21. || 1-0 UT Leads

 Second Set: Tampa jumped out to an early lead in the second set as they did not give up the lead throughout the duration of the set. However, the Sailfish were able to keep things interesting by narrowing the margin late in the second set. Tampa's offense continued to be the difference maker as the team was able to slowly pull out in front to close out the second set.  || 2-0 UT Leads 

 Third Set: After jumping out to a 9-3 lead, Palm Beach Atlantic was able to again battle back and eventually take the lead. Despite their efforts, UT was able to take the set and the game by a final score of 25-23. || 3-0 UT Wins

 INSIDE THE STATS:

• Rivera continued her streak of consecutive double-digit digs to ten matches as she recorded 14 in tonight's matchup.
• Elias continued her streak of consecutive double-digit assists to ten matches on the year.
