#8 Tampa Downs Florida Southern

 TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 8 ranked University of Tampa Volleyball team defeats Sunshine State Conference rival, Florida Southern.

All-Time Series: The Spartans lead the all-time series 77-56.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

First Set: The Tampa Volleyball team opened Tuesday night's game with a solid lead over Florida Southern. Early on, the Spartans took the advantage with help of Sorrel Houghton with a kill to kick off the action. The two teams battled throughout the first set, but UT was able to take the set by a score of 25-16. || 1-0 UT Leads

 Second Set: Florida Southern commanded the game in the second set as they went on an eight-point run early in the set. A few service errors by FSC along with kills from Katie McKiel, Kalli Kors and Sarah Luoma kept the Spartans fighting but they were unable to stop the Moccasins in set two as Florida Southern took the set 25-9. || 1-1 Tied

 Third Set: The two teams battled for an early lead and as the game continued, both teams suffered errors. In spite, the Spartans surely pulled away to take the win in this set. Houghton, Melissa Elias, and Mackenzie Dufresne assisted in the 25-18 win in set three. || 2-1 UT Leads

 Fourth Set: Following a block by Dufresne and McKiel to open the set, Elias recorded back-to-back assists to give Tampa an early jump. UT was able to command the rest of the set and took it 25-14. || 3-1 UT Wins

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Claudia Rivera notched nine digs for the Spartans.
• Elias recorded her 6^th game of the season with at least 20 assists (23).
• Houghton and Cors each recorded 11 kills in the match.
