Claudia Rivera and Taylor Fosler Win SSC Player of the Week Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. - University of Tampa volleyball has two players selected as the Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week. Claudia Rivera adds to her total this season, and Taylor Fosler joins her with their stellar performances last week.
Fosler receives Offensive Player of the Week honors following a pair of Tampa road wins last week. The Ocala, Florida product registered eight kills, a .455 hitting percentage, and two blocks in a 3-1 win at Florida Southern. She followed with 12 kills, a .500 hitting percentage, and nine blocks (six solos) in a 3-2 win at No. 22 Nova Southeastern. The senior outside hitter averaged 2.50 kills, 3.56 points, and 1.38 bocks per set this past week. The weekly award is the third of her career.
Rivera wins Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in 2021 following a pair of Tampa road wins last week. The Gurabo, Puerto Rico native, recorded 19 digs and five assists in a 3-1 win at Florida Southern. Rivera then tallied 25 digs and seven assists a 3-2 win at No. 22 Nova Southeastern. She averaged 4.89 digs per set this past week and currently leads the SSC in digs (493) and average digs per set (5.14).
