WEEKEND PREVIEW: Road Weekend for the Top-Ranked Spartans
Week 4
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Claudia Rivera wins Defensive Player of the Week as Tampa opened SSC play with two wins. The Gurabo, Puerto Rico native, tied the Spartans' record of 27 digs in a three-set match during a win against Florida Southern. She followed with 13 digs in a sweep of Eckerd. Rivera also provided her team with 5.0 assists per set to go along with her 6.67 digs per set across the two matches. The weekly award is the sixth of her career.
#1 Tampa
- The Spartans head into the week coming off two conference opponent sweeps. Mackenzie Dufresne leads the team in hitting percentage at a .557 clip. Zoey Seput and Emily Noe are one and two with the team lead in assists with 157 and 140 respectively through nine matches. Kalli Cors leads the Spartans in kills with a total of 86 and an average of 3.16 kills per set.
Lynn
- The Spartans squares off against the Fighting Knights on Friday at 7 p.m. in Boca Raton. The Fighting Knights come into the weekend at a record of 6-2, splitting their weekend games with a win against Palm Beach Atlantic and a loss to Nova Southeastern.
Nova Southeastern
- The Sharks received 38 votes in this past Monday AVCA coaches' poll. They currently sit at 7-2 this season with a 3-1 loss to #18 Barry who are tied at the top of the conference and currrently are 9-0 on the season.
