Spartans Win First Game at South Region Crossover

HOOVER, Ala. – Top-ranked Spartans begin South Region Crossover Tournament with three set sweep.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP: 

Final Score: No. 4 Tampa 3 (1: 28-26, 2: 25-20, 3: 25-12), Montevallo 0

Records: No. 4 Tampa (15-2, 7-2 SSC) , Montevallo (15-7, 7-2 GSC)

Location: Finley Center | Hoover, Ala.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

First Set: The game began with Nathaly Perez securing the first two kills of the afternoon. This helped Tampa jump out in front early. They stayed consistent the rest of the set but encountered some push back from Montevallo fighting for the first set as well. Tampa ended up coming out with the win being led by Perez with four kills and Kalli Cors behind her with three. Score: 28-26 (Tampa)

Second Set: Montevallo jumped out in the second set in hopes of redeeming themselves, but Tampa didn't allow that to last long. A few errors by Montevallo helped Tampa tie the set then progressively take over. Tampa outkilled Montevallo 15-13, securing the second set. Perez and Cors continued their dominance leading the second set with four kills a piece. Score: 25-20 (Tampa)

Third Set: Tampa continued their momentum in the third set looking to close the game out. They went on a 7-0 run putting them up 16-9 over Montevallo. Tampa never looked back after that, completing the three set sweep. Score: 25-12 (Tampa)

• Two Spartans finished with 19 or more assist: Zoey Seput (22), Emily Noe (19)
