HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Set: The game began with the Spartans winning the first point off a kill by Tatyana Lyons. The Spartans earned consecutive points early, but the Fighting Knights began to push back and get within two. Lynn called a timeout after the Spartans gained some momentum and extended their lead to three points. Each side continued to battle for the lead, but the Spartans ran away with the end of the set. Score: 25-17 (Tampa)
Second Set: Lynn started by winning the first three points of the set in hopes of getting the momentum back on their side. The Spartans began to get in the grove of play once again, causing the Fighting Knights to call a timeout of their own. After Tampa tied the game at 19, Lynn called another time out to kill the momentum of the Spartans' offensive attack. Ultimately, the Spartans outlasted the Fighting Knights' offensive push. Score: 26-24 (Tampa)
Third Set: The battle between the two teams continued into the third set. The Fighting Knights went on a three point run, causing the Spartans to call a timeout. Overall, the Spartans could not take back the set from the Fighting Knights. Score: 25-20 (Lynn)
Fourth Set: The Spartans opened the set with a kill from Lyons much like the one in the first set. Points continued to be won on both sides, keeping the fourth set close in score early. Down by five, Tampa called a timeout to work-out a plan for the Lynn offense. The Spartans started to eat into the Fighting Knight lead late in the set, putting some pressure on the visitors. The Fighting Knights had control of this set and never quite gave it back. Score: 25-19 (Lynn)
Fifth Set: The fifth set opened with an Ace from Zoey Seput to put Tampa in front. The Fighting Knights were true to their name, and did not go down without a fight. In the end, the Spartans prevailed and earned the win. Score: 15-10 (Tampa)
