HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Set: The game started with Tampa scoring the first two points with kills from Tess Schrenger and Tatyana Lyons. From there, they went on a 5-0 run. They started off dominate as Barry attempted to claw themselves back. Another run from Tampa was matched by Barry with a run of their own closing the deficit. After a timeout taken by Tampa, Schrenger comes back to score two unanswered points. Barry pounded the ball over the net every opportunity they got slowing down Tampa's momentum. Barry continued applying pressure tying the set at 22. Tampa's defense attempted to stand strong with a combined block from Lyons and Nathaly Perez. A kill from Schrenger puts Tampa in place for a match point. Despite this, Barry sneaks up from behind and takes the set never allowing Tampa to capitalize and reclaim their lead. Score: 26-24 (Barry)
Second Set: Barry kept their foot on the gas starting the scoring in the second set, but Tampa wasn't too far behind. Tampa's defense struggled a bit but they quickly bounced back and come out in front going on a 3-0 run to be up 14-10 at the halfway mark. Barry continued to push back putting themselves within two with a score of 17-15. Tampa never let up and continued to pull away. A solo block from Lyons and multiple kills from Perez closed out the set and put one set under Tampa's belt. Score: 25-18 (Tampa)
Third Set: The third set started close as both team fought for each point with Barry finding themselves in the lead. A handful of stolen points from Tampa helped them close the deficit to two points. Tampa then goes on a little 3-0 run to bring themselves within one with an opportunity to tie the set at 11. With this, Tampa still struggled to take the lead but received points from multiple service errors committed by Barry. Two kills from Mackenzie Dufresne served as an attempt to pump some energy into Tampa's offense. A service ace closes the set with Barry now up two sets to one. Score: 25-21 (Barry)
Fourth Set: Tampa started the fourth set going on a 7-1 run showing a tremendous shift from the previous set. Tampa continued battling pushing for a fifth set. A few miscalculations from both teams slowed the pace of the game but it was quickly picked up with an authoritative kill from Dufresne. An assisted block from Alicia Kowalski and Lyons fires up the team as they look to close out set four. A kill and service ace from Kalli Cors puts Tampa one step closer. A kill from Perez solidifies the win and forces the matchup into a fifth set. Score: 25-22 (Tampa)
Fifth Set: The fifth set started with Barry going on a 6-1 run forcing Tampa to take an early timeout. From there, they continued to add to their lead going up 8-1. Tampa scrambled to score points, but nothing was going their way. Tampa didn't go down without a fight, but it wasn't enough resulting in them falling to Barry in a close matchup on the road. Score: 15-7 (Barry)
