
No. 3 Tampa Uses Team Effort to Topple PBA
Tampa, Fla. – A full team effort by the No. 3 Tampa Spartans led to a 3-0 victory over the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Set: Tampa took an early 11-4 lead in the first set behind a balanced offense and two total blocks by Tess Schrenger. The Spartans expanded their advantage with a 7-0 run where most of the points came off Sailfish errors, putting the score at 20-7 when PBA used both of its timeouts for the set. Tampa as a team posted a .556 hitting percentage while the Sharks ended with a figure below zero in that stat category. | Score: 25-8 Tampa
Second Set: The second set was much of the same for the Spartans. Tampa went up 11-5 by spreading the wealth offensively. The Spartans lead grew as large as 10 after an 8-1 run and held on to win the set by a wide margin. The Spartans were very active at the net, recording six points off blocks and posting 11 total in the frame. | Score: 25-15 Tampa
Third Set: PBA held its first lead of the match to begin the third set as Tampa opted to use some younger players in the starting lineup. The Spartans climbed back into the matchup and would take its first lead of the frame at 12-11. PBA went on a big 9-1 run to take a 21-18 advantage as Tampa was forced to use both timeouts in the set. The Spartans came back for a second time and tied the game at 22 on an Ana Rivera service ace and later at 24 on a Sailfish service error. Tampa clinched the victory on a kill by Megan Schreck and a PBA attack error. | Score: 27-25 Tampa
