HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Set: After some early back-and-forth action between the Spartans and Mocs, a 5-0 run from Tampa sent Florida Southern into their first timeout of the set. However, immediately after the timeout, the Mocs went on a 5-0 run of their own and Coach Catanatch called his own timeout, down 10-9. The Spartans rallied and scored 8 of the next 10 points, giving them the lead at 17-12 and Florida Southern's Coach, Ashlee Crowder called another timeout. The Spartans closed out the set on another big run, this time 8-3 in favor of the Spartans. Nathaly Perez led the Spartans with 5 kills in the first set.| Score: 25-15 Tampa
Second Set: The Moccasins came out stronger to start the second set, snagging an early 6-3 lead as the Spartans needed an early timeout. The Mocs led for the majority of the middle of the set, with their lead stretching as big as 15-11. Catanach called another timeout as Florida Southern's lead went up to 19-15. In an attempt to keep the set alive, the Spartans' 3-0 run put them down by only 3 points late as the Mocs called a timeout. But the Mocs strong offense prevailed as they were able to close out the set only 3 plays later. | Score: 25-21 Florida Southern
Third Set: The Spartans started the third set with a heavy offensive presence with kills from Jenna Davis, Mackenzie Dufresne, and Tess Schrenger which gave them an early 8-3 lead as the Mocs called their first timeout. Florida Southern slowly crept up to the Spartans' lead through gritty back-and-forth action which caused Tampa to subsequently call their first timeout as their lead was only 1 with the set at 14-13. Following a picturesque kill from Kalli Cors, Coach Ashlee Crowder called her team's second timeout of the set down 17-21. Cors was able to close out the set shortly after by way of another kill. | Score: 25-17 Tampa
Fourth Set: The fourth set began the same as the first, long rallies and neither team taking a commanding lead. However, with their perfect record in mind and another kill from Cors, the Mocs took a timeout as the Spartans lead 10-12. Tampa continued to build on their lead as the set progressed, but an ace that followed a kill, both in favor of Florida Southern, signaled Catanach's first timeout of the set, up 18-15. The Spartans continued after the timeout, scoring 7 of the last 9 points, mainly through errors from the Mocs and Zoey Seput closed out the set and match with an ace. | Score: 25-17 Tampa
