HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Set: The Spartans were able to build a lead over the Buccaneers early in the first set, starting with 3 straight aces to open the match from Zoey Seput. Barry eventually came within 1 point of Tampa's lead but the Spartans soon regained control of the set. After an ace from Tess Schrenger, the Buccaneers called their first timeout of the day, falling down 17-13. The Spartans responded to the timeout by scoring 4 of the next 5, which included another ace from Schrenger, as well as a kill from Hayley Dillon and Jenna Davis. All of this was met with Barry's second timeout of the set, but it wasn't enough as an ace followed by a reception error, both served by Madison Hankins, ended the first set of the day. | Score: 25-17 Tampa
Second Set: Carrying their momentum over from the first set, Tampa got out to a quick 6-2 before Barry called a timeout with another one coming after an ace from JJ Ramirez put the set at 9-2. Two incredible saving efforts in the same play from Emily Noe, helped set up a kill from Kalli Cors, as the Spartans, who now lead 16-4, second-set domination ensued. That play was in the middle of a 9-1 run in favor of Tampa. Rachel Gregg closed out the set, in which her team hit .464 and they outkilled Barry 13 to 3, with a kill. | Score: 25-10 Tampa
Third Set: Barry took their first lead of the day over Tampa after going ahead early in the third set 4-3. However, the Spartans immediately responded by scoring 7 of the next 8 and maintained a constant lead through the middle of the set, until Barry coach, Leonid Yelin, called his team's first timeout of the set as they fell down 18-13. The Buccaneers had to call another timeout just 4 plays later but it wasn't enough as the Spartans closed out the set and match following an ace from Noe. | Score: 25-17 Tampa
