After falling down 11-16, the Chargers' head coach, Ana Paula Pego, called her first timeout of the set. The break fueled New Haven to grab 3 kills and an ace but it wasn't enough as Tampa held on to their lead and visitors called another timeout late in the set, this time down 22-19. Two Charger attack errors and a kill from Jenna Vaske allowed the Spartans to close out the first set of the day. | Score: 25-19 Tampa
