Brian Imperiale is in his tenth season at UT after being hired as the top assistant in the spring of 2013. He was promoted to associate head coach following the 2021 national championship.

Brian directs recruiting efforts and opponent scouting as well as assisting with all coaching aspects. As a Spartan, he sports an overall record of 160-43, and a winning percentage of .788.

Imperiale helped guide the 2021 team alongside head coach, Chris Catanach, to capture their fourth National Championship with a 3-0 sweep against Washburn University. The Spartans finished first in the SSC with a 34-2 overall record and five Spartans were selected for the 2021 AVCA and D2CCA All-South Region teams. Imperiale mentored Taylor Fosler, who finished the season as the NCAA Division II statistical champion in hitting percentage. 

The 2018 season was one for the record books. After starting the year unranked, the Spartans battled their way to a 33-4 record, ending the season No. 1 in the nation and with the title, National Champions. Imperiale mentored Katie McKiel and Sorrel Houghton, two 2018 AVCA All-American selections. Additionally, he helped lead the Spartans to their 26th Sunshine State Conference Championship, an NCAA South Regional Championship, and most importantly the NCAA Division II National Championship. The 2018 National Championship title, marks Imperiale's second, the first coming in 2014, his first season as assistant coach. 

The 2015 season saw continued success as Imperiale aided in the Spartans 25th Sunshine State Conference Championship.  During the summer of 2016, Imperiale led the Florida Wave to the Premier Volleyball League Championship, claiming the honor for the first time and in just his second season leading the team.

Imperiale enjoyed instant success at UT as the Spartans captured the 2014 national championship with a 3-0 sweep over Southwest Minnesota State in the title match. UT was 34-1 on the season, which included a perfect 16-0 showing in the Sunshine State Conference. Additionally, Berkley Whaley was honored as the National Player of the Year as he coached alongside National Coach of the Year Chris Catanach.

Imperiale previously completed his second year at the University of South Florida on head coach Courtney Draper's staff in 2013. At USF, he helped with recruiting, scouting and team development process.

Imperiale helped develop Erin Fairs into the 2012 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year as well as the 2013 American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and is part of a staff who has turned out back-to-back winning seasons at USF for the first time since 2009. Imperiale helped the Bulls to a fourth-place finish in The American, their best conference finish since 2002.

Draper added Imperiale to her staff as an assistant after he spent the past three seasons with Florida Southern College. Imperiale enjoyed a "hands-on" experience with Florida Southern, doing a little bit of everything for Mocs head coach Jill Stephens before moving on to USF.

Imperiale has been heavily involved in club volleyball, coaching with Pinellas Heat from 2003-2010. Imperiale's 2007 Heat team was the first in the club to qualify for the Junior Olympics, and his teams qualified for the rest of his tenure with the program.

In 2010, Imperiale was named the Florida Region Male Coach of the Year. He also coached his 16-and-under team to a second place finish in the open division of the 2010 AAU National Championships.
During his time with Florida Southern, Imperiale opened and was the director for Southern Select Club Volleyball in Lakeland, Fla.

Imperiale also served as an assistant coach for the Team Florida High Performance squad from 2007-2010, and was a head coach for Team Florida HP in 2012. Imperiale's team took home the Youth Division gold medal in 2010, and secured a bronze medal in the Select Division in 2012.

Imperiale earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Florida State in 2002 after playing in the Seminoles' club volleyball program. He is married to Margeaux Imperiale and has a daughter, Ayla and three sons, Drew, Sean and Owen. His wife, formerly Margeaux Sinibaldi, was an All-American libero for the Spartans who remains the program's all-time leader in digs.
