Season Opener Results in First-Place Finish for Tampa
VALDOSTA, Ga. – The University of Tampa women's cross country team opened its 2022 campaign with a first-place team finish at the Valdosta State Invitational.

- Hannah Capel | 3rd overall, 18:45.4
- Aspen Gordon | 4th overall, 18:55.0
- Katelyn Deitrick | 6th overall, 19:02.5
- Emma Skinner | 9th place, 19:17.1
- Meagan Moreno | 10th place, 19:17.2
OTHER NOTABLES:
- Capel was the top Spartan in her first cross-country season with the Spartans.
- A pair of freshmen were in the top five in their first college meet as Deitrick and Skinner were both in the top 10.
- Moreno, a Coastal Carolina transfer, was in the top-10 in her first meet as a Spartan.
- Head coach Logan Wells coached his first-ever meet for the Spartans.
- Wells registered 19 runners in the event.
- Nikki Bezborodko (12), Riley Kwiatkowski (16) and Eva DeMarco (17) turned in top-20 finishes for UT.
- Jacksonville's Hayleigh Palotti was the top runner, finishing with a time of 18:40.5.
- Lynn also represented the SSC as the Fighting Knights finished fifth overall.
