Hannah Capel Leads Tampa to Third Place Finish at Florida State Invite
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's cross country team ran to a third-place finish at the women's garnet 5K of the Florida State Invitational on Friday morning.

OTHER NOTABLES:
- Capel was the top Spartan for the third time of the season, also notching a new personal best time.
- Gordon was the next Tampa runner to finish, and has now been in the team's top two in three of four races in 2022. After setting a personal record last week at the Louisville Invite, Gordon topped her previous best by three seconds.
- A pair of freshmen, Deitrick and Skinner, rounded out the UT top five.
- Head coach Logan Wells registered 10 runners in the event.
- Daphnee Lavassas of Miami was the individual champion with a time of 17:10.9.
- Also representing the Sunshine State Conference was Palm Beach Atlantic (5), Saint Leo (8), Embry-Riddle (10).
- Several power five schools competed in the event, with LSU and Miami occupying the top two spots respectively. UT finished ahead of host Florida State, who scored a fourth-place finish.
