
Tampa Women Finish Second, Men Third, at SSC Championships
DAYTONA Beach, Fla. - (Results: Men | Women) - Embry-Riddle men's and Palm Beach Atlantic's women's teams claimed the 2022 SSC Cross Country Championships, with the University of Tampa finishing as the runners up in the women's race and third in men's action. The 2022 championships were hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at 600 S Clyde Morris Blvd in Daytona Beach.

Embry-Riddle finished with 24 team points to capture the program's fourth SSC championship and their third in a row. The Eagles' top five runners all finished in the Top-10, with four of their runners finishing in the Top-5. Saint Leo finished second, defeating third-place Tampa by one point. The Lions placed two runners in the Top-10, including the Individual Champion. The Spartans also had two runners finish in the Top-10 and four in the Top-15.

Saint Leo's Arthur Cosson earned the title of SSC Cross Country Individual Champion after completing the 8,000-meter race in 25:55.9. Cosson, who finished fourth at last year's championship, is the seventh Saint Leo runner to win the SSC Championship, and the first to do so since Shane Bracken did it in 2019. Embry-Riddle's Paul Kraemer finished second, completing the course in 26:03.69. He was the first finisher for the Eagles, and one of four Eagles to finish in the Top-5. The others were Brendon Shea (26:20.85), Ryan Szklany (26:22.19), and Tanner Rosolino (26:32.81).
Szklany, Shea, and Kraemer all finished in the Top-10 in the 2021 championship race. The Eagles' Andrew Stowe, was the top finishing freshman. He finished 10th overall with a time of 26:40.85 and was named Top Freshman.

2022 Women's Cross Country Championship Recap
Palm Beach Atlantic defeated Tampa 49-54 to win their first SSC Women's Cross Country Championship in program history. The Sailfish put three runners in the Top-10, including the first and second-place finishers. All of their runners finished in the Top-25. The Spartans had two runners finish in the Top-5, while all five of their runners finished in the Top-20. Nova Southeastern finished third with 81 points.

Dune Costes finished the 6,000-meter course in 22:22.47 to become the first SSC Women's Cross Country Individual Champion in Palm Beach Atlantic history. Her teammate, Laura Georgelin, finished right behind her with a time of 22:29.70. Nova Southeastern's Kamila Soja finished third in 22:39.58. Tampa's Hannah Capel (22:41.03) and Aspen Gordon (22:44.59) rounded out the Top-5.
Costes was one of three runners to finish in the Top-10 this season after finishing in the Top-10 in 2021. The other two runners were Ellie Fluman of Florida Southern and Paige Patterson of Saint Leo. Katelyn Deitrick was named the Top Freshman, finishing 15th overall with a time of 23:32.68.
