Spartans and Buccaneers Ready for Friday Night Clash
Tampa will host Barry in the homecoming game for a crucial SSC match
TAMPA, Fla. – The No.23 University of Tampa Spartans will host the No. 8 Barry University Buccanneers for a 7 p.m. match on Friday night. The Spartans come into the match looking to bounce back from their 3-1 loss on the road to Eckerd College on Wednesday.
The Matchup: No. 23 University of Tampa (6-2-2, 2-2-1 SSC) vs. No. 8 Barry University (6-2-0, 1-2-0 SSC)
• The Spartans and Knights enter the contest as the No. 3 and No. 1 offenses in the SSC as Tampa is averaging 2.8 goals per game as a team while Barry comes into the match averaging 3.5 goals per game.
• Both schools have scored 28 goals this season while Barry holds a 24-17 advantage in assists. The two teams are also averaging almost identical numbers in shots per game as UT has averaged 14.0 and the Buccaneers have averaged 14.6.

Last Time Out: UT fell 3-1 against Eckerd on the road. Lewis Sugden scored the goal for Tampa in the 77th minute as the Spartans tried to come back from a 3-0 deficit. Fredinho Mompremier leads the way on offense scoring eight goals this year while Sugden leads the way in assists with six. In net, Jake Richards has been the starter for most of the season and has conceded 10 goals in 650 minutes of action and recorded 17 saves.
About the Spartans: Freshman Sugden is second in the SSC lead in assists per game with an average of .600, with six in ten games played. Mompremier is tied for third in the conference in goals scored with eight so far this season. Mompremier is also tied for second in game-winning goals at three. Defensively, Richards is second in the conference in goals against with an average of .978.
About the Buccaneers: Barry is coming off a 3-2 loss away against Rollins in 2OT on Tuesday night. The Bucs had a 2-1 lead but the Tars tied the game in the 67th minute and won it in the 101st minute. The offense is led by Thomas Coombes who has nine goals on the year and three game-winners. Redshirt sophomore Michael Scheraldi has started in goal in seven of the eight matches and has allowed 16 goals while recording 25 saves and one shutout.
Series History: Tampa leads the all-time series between the two schools with 20 victories to Barry's 12 and there has been three draws. In the last meeting, UT defeated Barry 2-1 in overtime in Miami Shores, Fla.
Tickets: General Admission ticket prices for all Florida Southern regular season athletic events are $5 for adults and $3 for Seniors, Military and visiting students. Youth (ages 12 and under) are admitted free of charge.
