Swimming Takes Pair From Lions on Sunday

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams concluded a two-day meeting with Saint Leo University with a pair of victories on Sunday morning.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Men's Score: No. 9 Tampa 133, Saint Leo 53
Women's Score: No. 5 Tampa 145, Lynn 38

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• There was a total of 20 events in the meet.
• UT's men took first in eight of the 10 races.
• The Spartan women won nine of the 10 events.

TOP PERFORMERS (MEN):

• The opening relay went UT's way, with a winning time of 1:32.91. The Spartans quartet included Patrick Fry, Aramis Rivera, Tibor Tistan and Santiago Aguilera.
• Parker Knollman was the first to finish the 200 Free, doing so in 1:40.94.
• The 50 Free went to the Spartans with Caleb Brandon finishing in 21.19.
• A first-place finish came from Hayden Curley in the 400 IM at 3:56.33. Curley also took first in the 500 Free at 4:31.16.
• Rivera proceeded to win the 100 Fly with a time of 50.18.
• Jared Mindek claimed the 100 Breast, being clocked at 56.74.
• The 400 Free Relay was won by Tampa with a time of 3:03.07. The winning team included Aguilera, Brandon, Knollman and Tistan.

TOP PERFORMERS (WOMEN):

• UT took event one, winning the 200 Medley Relay behind a time of 1:45.71. The winning team included Madysen Barnes, Julia Augustsson, Madi Lauger and Tilde Morin.
• In the 200 Free, Sierra Gillan posted a winning time of 1:54.02.
• Roma Vrijhof championed the 50 Free in 24.89. She would later win the 100 Back in 57.09.
• Tampa's Brooke Punnewaert was first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:33.06.
• Erika DiPietro was first at 52.82 in the 100 Free.
• The 500 Free was won by Morgan Wimberly with a first-place time of 5:04.55.
• Augustsson proceeded to win the 100 Breast in 56.74.
• The Spartans won the final race, the 400 Free Relay, with a time of 3:31.80 from Morin, Vrijhof, DiPietro and Emily Van De Wiele.
