Tampa Swimming Takes Three SSC Championships on Day Four
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The fourth day of the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships concluded the University of Tampa continuing to lead the men's event as the Spartan women are second.
CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL / RESULTS
Top Tampa Performances:
- In the Women's 500 Free, UT's Holly Wessel was sixth with a time of 4:58.04.
- Hayden Curley won the 500 Free with a championship time of 4:21.52. It was a 1-2 finish for the Spartans as Barnabas Fluck followed with a time of 4:24.12.
- Emily Van De Wiele had a time of 54.98 in the 100 Back as she was third overall.
- In the Men's 100 Back, Parker Knollman was the runner-up at 48.43.
- Theb 100 Breast resulted in a third-place finish from Alli McFarland, who was clocked at 1:02.55.
- Jared Mindek was the runner-up in the 100 Breast with a time of 54.08.
- Three Spartans were in the top six in the Women's 200 Fly, led by a fourth-place finish from Madysen Barnes (2:02.14). Sierra Gillan was fifth (2:02.17) as Katie Horan was sixth (2:02.33).
- Santiago Corredor won the 200 Fly with a new school and SSC meet record time of 1:45.18. Ben Castro was third at 1:49.00 while Kenan Dean was fourth at 1:49.22.
- Tampa won the SSC Championship in the Women's 200 Free Relay. Roma Vrijhof, Tilde Morin, Sophie Frece and Emily Van De Wiele were the first to finish, coming in at 1:32.19.
- Tampa was second in the Men's 200 Free Relay behind a 1:20.00 time from Tibor Tistan, Caleb Brandon, Pat Fry and Santiago Aguilera.
