Lakeland, Fla- The No. 9 University of Tampa tennis team traveled to Lakeland, FL to face No. 22 Florida Southern Thursday afternoon, in a Sunshine State Conference matchup.

How it Happened:
The Spartans were victorious in their efforts to shutout the Moccassins in double to earn the first point of the match. Then, when singles transpired, and early finish to Court 1 resulted in a victory for No. 13 Raquel Amaro, whose won her 10th match in the last 11. With a two point lead for No. 9 Tampa, No. 22 Florida Southern began their comeback. On Court 6, Kennedi Brown (FSC) defeated Presley in straight sets. Then, Vivien Charvatova (FSC) defeated Anine Wilberg on Court 5 to tie the match at two. On Court 2, Victoria Sanchez won the first set, however dropped the next two to give the Moccassins the lead for the first time of the afternoon. Within one more to clinch the match, Isabella Bolivar (FSC) defeated Aleks Topalovic to seal the victory. Savannah Williams did win her match against Laura Vetter, however it was one match too late.
