
Spartan Relay Teams Set School Record to Open NCAA Championships
INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams each competed in the 800 Free Relay on day one of the 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming Championships at the IU Natatorium.
In event one, the Spartan women established a new school record, finishing the 800 Free Relay in a time of 7:22.43. Placing ninth in the event were the team of Emma Chestang, Sierra Gillan, Emily Van De Wiele and Roma Vrijhof.
Tampa's men then competed, finishing as the national runner-up with a time of 6:22.52. The school record came from Santiago Corredor, Hayden Curley, Caleb Brandon and Santiago Aguilera. Corredor also set a new school record in the lead-off.
Wednesday will begin with 10 a.m., prelims followed by the finals at 6 p.m. The events include the 1,000 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free and 200 Medley Relay.
